Mindy Cohn, the longtime voice of Velma in Scooby-Doo, has shared that she has again beaten cancer. She revealed the news in an Instagram post on April 19, accompanied by a photo of herself giving a thumbs-up from a hospital bed.

In her post, she explained she’d stepped away from social media to focus on kicking cancer’s rear, thanking Providence Saint John’s hospital staff for their care. Special shouts went to nurses Finja, Patty, and Courtney, as well as gastrointestinal oncology surgeon Dr. Anton Bilchik, who she called a hero in her treatment journey. She also thanked her friends and family—Tara Karsian, John Stewart, and Gregory Zarian—for their unwavering advocacy as she faced recovery. She added that she would be resting for a couple of weeks before diving back into life and adventures, signing off with an emphatic, “Onwards! F**K Cancer!”

Her update notes that the cancer may have involved the digestive system, a broad area that includes organs like the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts, intestines, and more. The message underscores the broad range of cancers that can affect the digestive tract and the complexities of treatment.

Cohn, now 59, is best known to fans for voicing Velma across numerous Scooby-Doo productions over the past two decades. She’s also remembered for her role as Natalie Green on the 1980s sitcom The Facts of Life. This isn’t her first cancer journey; she previously faced breast cancer in 2012 and announced victory in 2017 after undergoing a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. She discussed that experience in a 2017 interview with People, describing how the cancer metastasized and recurred, and the emotional strain that came with it.

Since sharing the latest health journey, Cohn has received an outpouring of support from fans, friends, and fellow actors on Instagram. The update comes on the heels of her recent work, including a 2024 Apple TV series, Palm Royale. Stay tuned for any further updates on her health and projects.
