Netflix's Hulk Hogan: Real American omits Brooke, and she explains why she stayed away
Hulk Hogan’s rise to superstardom in the 1980s is charted in a four-part Netflix documentary that traces his Rocky III cameo, the “all-American hero” branding that propelled him to peak superstardom, and the later controversies that stained his legacy. Yet one familiar face from his public life is conspicuously absent: his daughter, Brooke Hogan.
The absence isn’t for lack of drama. Brooke Hogan has publicly discussed her rocky relationship with her father’s inner circle in recent years, describing what she called a “vocal distaste” for the people surrounding him. Her estrangement extended to disputes over people in his circle, which she says contributed to her decision not to participate in the documentary.
In interviews with Page Six, Brooke explained her personal stance: choosing not to be part of the project because, when her father calls in sensitive settings, others often pivot to support him, effectively flipping “Team Hogan” on a whim. She recalled witnessing relationships change when people were asked to speak on camera, a pattern that left her wary of joining the storyline herself.
Beyond Brooke’s absence, the film covers the arc of Hogan’s career—from his wrestling glory days to the controversies that followed, including remarks that sparked backlash and a sex-tape scandal that fed into the high-profile Gawker lawsuit. The documentary assembles Hogan’s rise and fall, but it doesn’t report on every family chapter, a choice Brooke attributes to the shifting loyalties she’s observed in his circle.
Brooke has been candid about her disagreements with her father’s public world. She has even distanced herself from his will, noting that her brother Nick inherited a $5 million estate when Hogan passed away in 2025, a detail she included to illustrate the ongoing rift.
Hulk Hogan: Real American is now streaming on Netflix, offering viewers a detailed look at the highs and lows of a wrestling icon’s public and private life.
