# iGumdrop Advances to MasterChef Global Gauntlet with a Wagyu Satay Showpiece
iGumdrop, the online culinary creator known as Jamie, is stepping from streams and uploads into a reality competition spotlight by joining MasterChef Global Gauntlet Season 16. With a following that spans Twitch, YouTube, and Instagram, she has spent more than ten years sharing cooking tips and tasty experiments with her audience.
Her journey toward the show began with a short video posted on April 23, where she flashed the distinctive Asia-Pacific apron that marks her region on the series. MasterChef later released a teaser clip on X showing Gordon Ramsay quizzing her about life beyond the kitchen, while she explained her aim to bring Malaysian flavors to broader audiences.
“I’m here to prove my cooking can stand up on a big stage, not just win followers,” iGumdrop is quoted as saying in the recap, underscoring her focus on flavor over clout. Ramsay nodded to her impressive reach and praised the authenticity of her approach, while cautioning against overcooking the star ingredient.
MasterChef Global Gauntlet uses a World Cup-style format where eight home cooks audition per region to earn one of five coveted white aprons per region. The competition is structured around four global regions— Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia-Pacific—each vying for a $250,000 prize.
iGumdrop clinched her white apron for Team Asia-Pacific after drawing on her father’s Malaysian street-food roots, a source of inspiration that also fuels a long-term dream of launching a family-owned food truck together. Her particular dish—a wagyu beef satay with a peanut sauce and coconut rice—made a strong impression on the judges. Tiffany Derry commended the dish on its presentation, while Ramsay called it both authentic and delicious.
Viewers can watch MasterChef Global Gauntlet on Hulu, where the Asia-Pacific contender’s journey continues as the competition unfolds.
