Jacksepticeye Won’t Lean on Markiplier for Bloodborne Movie Guidance, Despite Iron Lung Success
Sony has announced an R-rated animated adaptation of Bloodborne at CinemaCon 2026, with Seán McLoughlin, known online as Jacksepticeye, attached as a producer. The news surprised some fans, but the creator quickly expressed that he understands the immense pressure of bringing FromSoftware’s beloved game to the big screen.
In conversation with Radio Times Gaming at the BAFTA Games Awards, McLoughlin opened up about the weight he feels to get the Bloodborne project right. He called the stakes “terrifying,” noting that Bloodborne is his favorite game and that any development tied to the franchise feels like a win for fans.
Asked whether he would seek filmmaking tips from Markiplier, McLoughlin made it clear this project is his own. He emphasized that this is something he must figure out independently, with a lighthearted tone underscoring his stance: this is his realm to navigate.
Markiplier, who pivoted from YouTube to film with the self-financed horror movie Iron Lung (in which McLoughlin even had a cameo), has not been brought in for guidance on Bloodborne. McLoughlin reiterated his confidence in the team around him, acknowledging that identifying the right collaborators is part of his job and that he can manage the role.
While McLoughlin isn’t writing or directing the Bloodborne adaptation, he pledged to “fight tooth and nail” to ensure it reaches its best possible form. Specifics about the cast, the story, and a release window have yet to be revealed.
On the other side, Markiplier has enjoyed box office success with Iron Lung but isn’t keen on being viewed as the creator who only produces game adaptations. He did acknowledge that his next project will likely involve another adaptation, though details remain unclear.
